The project is funded by the UK Department for International Development (DFID) and is being coordinated by Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India.

The overarching aim of the project is to ensure greater participation of India in global trade leading to enhanced opportunities of employment and growth for the poor and under privileged society.

Secondly it strengthens the country’s human and institutional capacities for analysis of globalization–related issues, thus facilitating a policy environment that supports and sustains a more equitable process of globalization.

In the process, the project aims to assist India to derive the greatest possible benefits from the multilateral trading system and influence international trade rule making. The project works in partnership with private sector and civil society and focuses on institutions and sectors with the greatest potential to affect the poor in their roles as producers, workers, consumers and citizens.
